Davon sind ca. 50 000 Ausländer. Das jährliche Bevölkerungswachstum beträgt ca. 2%. Die Bevölkerungsdichte liegt schätzungsweise bei 38 Einwohnern professional Quadratkilometer. Dabei ist die Bevölkerung sehr ungleichmäßig verteilt. Über die Hälfte der Bevölkerung lebt in städtischen Gebieten im Nord-Westen und im Zentrum des Landes. Der derzeitige König ist Mohammed VI. Die offizielle Sprache des Landes ist seit 1956 das Hocharabische. Die Staatsreligion ist der Islam.

Hierzu werde ich zunächst die Einführung der französischen Sprache durch die Protektoratsmacht und die anschließende Umgang mit der Sprache anhand der Sprachpolitik, vor allem im Erziehungswesen, des unabhängigen Marokkos darstellen. Die Sprachpolitik eines Landes hat einen entscheidenden Einfluss auf die Verwendung von Sprachen, da sie unter anderem die in den Schulen zu lernendenden Fremdsprachen in Umfang und Intensität festlegt.
Im Anschluss daran werde ich den Einfluss und die Funktion der französischen Sprache in den Bereichen der Wirtschaft, den Medien und der Literatur im heutigen Marokko vorstellen.
